One minute graduation speech for Grant King

Grant King better known to some of us as “King Grant” started at DA in the fall of his freshman year. He decided to join our yearbook staff during 2nd quarter that year and since then; has spent at total of 13 quarters working on the team. Quarter by quarter, he built his journalistic knowledge, and this year, he did a fantastic job as our managing editor. I have so much respect for Grant because he chose to like being a part of the yearbook staff at a time when it wasn’t necessarily cool. He chose to stand up and say, “I think this is a lot of fun, even if it IS a lot of work!” Grant is most proud of how much his work ethic has improved during his time here at Denver Academy. As I’ve watched him grow, I’ve seen him gain so much confidence. Although his tone remains quiet and kind, Grant has found his voice, and I am really excited to see how he will use it in the future. Grant will be attending Metro State University next year for mechanical engineering. He is truly appreciative of his parents, his sisters and his friends.I appreciate him for being compassionate, funny, and someone that I could always count on to help me when I needed it the most.

Ladies and Gentleman, Grant King!

One minute graduation speech for Darwin Swift

When you look in the dictionary under the word Swwwweeeeeet,, you will find a photo of Darwin Swift. He is sweet.

He loves to say, “Sweeeet.”, and he loves to bake and share sweet treats with everyone. Darwin has been at DA since 6th grade and has been an important member of the yearbook staff for the past four years. One of his best learning memories is Ms. Thomson recording him saying, “Now I see! Now I get it!” In May, Darwin received the Lifetime Singer Award and a $1000 scholarship for his commitment to his choir, Young Voices of Colorado. He has been singing and traveling with them for the past nine years. At a recent competition in Wales, they took 5th place out of 100 choirs from all over the world. Darwin described his recent experiential trip to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation as “the most fun that he has had in his lifetime.” He loved helping others in need and will continue to do so next year when he goes to work at Skycliffe Stroke Retirement Center. Darwin really appreciates his loving parents and I really appreciate his caring attitude and love for the DA Community. I’m so excited for him to embark on all the sweet adventures that his future will bring.

 Ladies and Gentleman, Darwin Swift!
